Poetry: Pearl, by Andrew R

she bleeds saltwater

her body is a broken boat

the seaweed threatens to strangle her

as each gracing wave sends her

further from the safety of the beach

she grasps at hope but it slips through her fingers

like loose sand in the unforgiving wind

yet she does not fear the coming storm

for she is used to falling quickly

and keeps her head above water every time

and finds her way across the ocean despite it all
