Poetry: Requiem For The Sky (and others), by Andrew R

Requiem For The Sky
Acrylic clouds form
One after another on
My bedroom ceiling

My paintbrush plummets
I watch as grayish white paint
Stains the hardwood floor

I weep, wondering
When I will feel the rain on
My shoulders again

Faltering Heartbeat
The rhythm of the rain
Splattering on the tired roof
Is so unsteady

The roof above me
Trembles the way my hands do
Nothing is stable

Thunder crashes as
My chest tightens. The rain and
I shake together

Revel In The Rain
The clouds embellish
The sky, multiplying its
Untarnished beauty.

Glistening clouds are
The silver lining to blue
Skies and bright sunlight.

I am grateful for
Imperfect weather, and for
Happy discomfort.
